Never before in the history of the Omani Empire did the emperor choose a crown prince for his life. However, the current ruler, Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, made an important decision after passing a special law of anointing. According to Omani media, Sultan Haitham bin Tariq announced his crown as prince after introducing the prince for the first time.
He has appointed his eldest son Syed Dhi Yazan bin Haitham bin Al Saeed as Crown Prince. The 31-year-old has been the Minister of Culture, Sport, and Youth since August 2020. He was promoted by his father shortly after taking the throne in Oman. Dhi Yazen also served as Second Secretary to the Omani Embassy in London.
He has a keen interest in sports and social work and career.
Dhi Yazin was born in 1990. He holds a Bachelor of Politics degree from Oxford University in the United Kingdom. It should be noted that two days ago, the head of Oman, Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Saeed, had announced a new law regarding the appointment of a Crown Prince. According to the Omani state news agency, the new law emphasizes the role of the state in ensuring greater freedom and rights in Omanis. Sultan Haitham took over the reins of government last year after the death of Sultan Qaboos bin Saeed, who ruled Oman for 50 years. The late Sultan Qaboos did not nominate another person in his life as his throne but raised the name of his successor in a sealed envelope, which was opened after his death. The new law sets out the independence of the judiciary and the rule of law as the basis for public administration.
